Taking Action

Lately I have been thinking a lot about the way that we can hear something one minute and by the time the next minute rolls around, it is completely forgotten. Life gets so busy sometimes its hard to stop and recall all the information that you have taken in. I know the same is true when we are at church being fed the word of God. The preacher will say something that relates so well and can really help you or someone you know but by the time church is over you do not remember what it was. I don’t want do go to church week after week pointlessly, because the revelation I got was erased by the distractions of life.

The Pharisees are famous for this very thing! They spent most of their lives memorizing scripture and learning the law. Their learning was good, however, when the word became flesh (Jesus) they could not recognize it. They did not practice the word they knew so well and as a result they had no true understanding. They taught it but they did not DO it.

"The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. Matthew 23:2-3 (NIV)

They were dry, producing no fruit. I am making the decision to put action to the things I hear and the words I read from now on! When we stay connected to the vine, we produce much fruit. I am going to make it my goal, and encourage you to make it your goal as well! Take the main key of each sermon and commit to practicing what you've been taught for the next week.

I believe that if we make an effort to put the Word to action, God will meet us half way and many doors will be opened because of it!

“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” James 4:17 (NIV).

Mandee, way to put it into practice great godly advice about practicing what your preach! I can tell this doesn't come from a pastor's daughter...it comes from a daughter of the Heavenly Father...Good job!

Excellent and true. That is why I take notes, and read my notes, meditate on the scriptures and revisit my notes. You are spot on! Thanks for the good word.
